This project was made within an Artistic Residency in Portalegre, Portugal with the Robinson Fundation. In this town, there is an old cork factory developed in the 19th century by the English family Robinson and who was the center of the economy ans demography of Portugal for decades. In 2009, the factory closes and leaves behind an architectural history, a cultural and social heritage.
During this stay, I was interested in the young population and the spirit of the city. Guided by my feelings, I explored and photographed the streets, the architecture, the traces of the history, the present and the unfinished.
When I look away and I see the valleys and the horizon. The sky is blue, the wind blows and the clouds being shaped, here comes the southern wind !
* The title “Here comes the southern wind!” is a verse from the poem « Lament of Portalegre » written by the Portuguese poet José Regio in tribute to this city.

Ce projet a été réalisé dans le cadre d´une résidence artistique à Portalegre, Portugal avec la Fondation Robinson. Cette commune abrite une ancienne fabrique de liège, dont l’industrie a été développée au 19ème siècle par la famille anglaise Robinson. Noyau central de l’économie et de la démographie de Portalegre pendant des décennies, en 2009 la fabrique ferme laissant derrière elle un patrimoine et une histoire architecturale, culturelle et sociale.
Pendant ce séjour, je me suis intéressée à la jeune population et à l´esprit de la ville. Guidée par mes impressions, j´ai exploré et photographié les rues, l´architecture, les traces de l’histoire, du présent et de l’inachevé.
Lorsque je regarde au loin, je vois les vallées et l’horizon. Le ciel est bleu, le vent souffle et les nuages se forment, Voici le vent su Sud !
*Le titre “Le vent du Sud! est un vers tiré du poème” « La complainte de Portalegre » écrit par le poète portugais José Regio en hommage à cette ville.
